Harmura Saimin Stand

Noodle soup may not be the first thing you think of when you consider Hawaiian cuisine, but you’ll truly be eating like a local with a bowl of saimin at Hamura Saimin Stand. This small, unassuming building serves up the island’s best noodles at long indoor countertops (despite the name) packed with both locals and visitors.

Try a steaming bowl of won ton soup or the specialty saimin, noodle soup in a delicious broth with egg, fish cake, and pork. The BBQ beef or chicken skewers are an excellent side. The shrimp saimin and udon are also excellent, or if you’re not up for soup, try the fried noodles. This popular eatery can be packed at times and there is not an abundance of seating. However, the counter and stool setup allows for quick turnover, so you likely won’t have to wait long. Bring cash – credit cards are not accepted. Save room for their famous lilikoi chiffon pie to go. It’s sold by the whole pie only, but trust us – you’ll want it all.
