If you’re traveling to Kauai, you’ve undoubtedly heard of the famed Na Pali coastline, where emerald green cliffs drop 4,000 feet into the ocean spray below. Spending a day at Ke e Beach is a great way to soak in Na Pali views with your toes in the sand.
Best for Na Pali Views, Sunsets, and Summer Swimming
The only beach that provides views down the Na Pali coast, this is a must-see destination. Watch the sky fade to pink and gold with an unforgettable Kauai sunset at Ke e Beach in Hawaii. This beach has strong currents, especially in winter, so swimmers should proceed with caution. Waves are generally smaller in the summer, and swimmers and snorkelers can enjoy the calmer water within the reef lagoon.
Launching Point for the Adventurous
Ke e Beach in Kauai is the starting point for the famous Kalalau Trail, as well as kayak tours along the Na Pali coast. If you’re up for a real workout, Outfitters Kauai will get you set up to see the Na Pali from the ocean in one of their kayaks. This is a 17-mile paddle from the north shore’s Ke’e Beach to the west shore’s Polihale Beach. Equally adventurous is the 11-mile hike down the Kalalau Trail, ending at an isolated beach (22 miles round trip, camping permit required). If you’re not quite up for that level of commitment, hiking four miles in on the same trail to Hanakapiai Falls is well worth the trek. At the end, you will find yourself standing at the bottom of a 300-foot waterfall. The cold mountain water is perfect for cooling off before the four-mile return trip to your car.
